Beginning at 7:30 PM at the Center Overlook, the roughly 30-minute sunset ceremony brings together veterans affairs leaders and local VFW members for a four-gun salute, the playing of Taps, a live performance of God Bless America, and a carnation toss into the Hudson River. The event is open to everyone.
Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park, the converted 1.28-mile rail bridge over the Hudson River at Haviland Road, is one of the more remarkable pedestrian experiences in the Northeast.
